Thank you! - A message from the comittee
The Monmouth Carnival Committee would like to thank everyone who took part and contributed in any way to help make the day such an entertaining and enjoyable event.
A special thanks must go to the teachers, pupils and parents of Overmonnow Primary School for organising all the lovely hand decorated bunting on display and for joining the carnival procession in such great numbers. Also for the children’s very thoughtful presentation on the stage later in the day. You were magnificent!
Thanks must also go to the ladies of Wyesham for the colourful bunting they produced (coordinated by Caroline Pearce), to the Monmouth Gymnastics Club for the wonderful display, the Rotary Club and the Lions Club for helping on the day, to the Fire Service, the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade, the Ross-on-Wye Carnival Committee for acting as stewards, the batala and samba bands for their brilliant drumming, to Handyman House for donating collection buckets, to the Mayor and Mace Bearer, to Monmouthshire County Council Officers Mike and Nigel for their invaluable support, to John Blake for presenting the shield and to everyone else who gave of their time to help make this traditional community event another success.
As with everything, events like these don’t happen without willing volunteers, and Monmouth Carnival Committee is always looking for more helpers. We will be holding our Annual General Meeting in August and would love to see some fresh faces there with new ideas. The exact date and venue will be published within the next couple of weeks so keep a lookout for it.
